Hi, it’s been a busy month for me. I’ve had lots of college work to do and hand in, but never fear, I shall not bore you with that here. I’ve been doing work for various app developers doing UI and icons for them. I will post them on here soon.

That’s not what my major focus is on at the moment. I am currently developing two very exciting projects for me. One of them you already now about. SnapCMS is coming very well and infect working. However I will most likely end up doing two other rewrites before settling down to liking it and wanting to show it to anyone.

The other project is somewhat related to Snap, but I won’t reveal it here just yet, I want to have something to show before I put anything official up.

Today marks me pushing v1.1 of this site live. I’ve been working on it for a little while, working out some of the things that kept bugging me about the old site. As you can see some things have changed… here’s a small list.

• Major Change – I’ve done away with the fancy portfolio design, in my opinion it didn’t fit in with the design of the site. The design is pretty minimalist and having some massive image in the middle of the page broke that consistency a little, plus it allows me to add more years on without having to re-write everything… again.
• Another thing that’s changed is that the template for the site now uses no images. I used to use animated gifs for each of the menu items, one static, one for hover over and one for mouse off, however they always seemed to look messy at best (as well as being very time consuming to make and implement) so I’ve decided to go for a purely CSS approach for them. I’ve used text-shadowing and CSS transitions to give the same impression as before, maybe a little more convincing looking.
• Also, the title which used to be a PNG image is now gone, done purely now with web typography and well placed drop shadows. I think it looks fairly similar.

Of course the major drawback with all this new fanglledness is that old browsers (IE *cough*) don’t support either text shadowing or css transitions so I may have to go back and add in some kind of IE support at some point.

I’d better go and update the portfolio, I have lots of bits and pieces to add on.

Hey everyone.

I’ve been busy working on various projects lately, unfortunately very little new to add to the site as of yet, but it’s soon to come hopefully. So, I decided to make the homepage a little more interesting. As you may have noticed there’s now a slideshow at the beginning of the site. I added a new graphic to do with iPhone optimising web sites and there’s more in the works.

I am particularly proud of the iPhone, took a little while to get it right, but in the end it worked out pretty dandy, and yes it was drawn from scratch in photoshop, no photos were used, it was all gradients, borders, shadows and glows.

So, that about sums up what’s happening. Please check back soon and if you like my work then feel free to get in contact.

Hello, just me again. Writing this post to announce that I’ve been busy working today to make an iPhone / iPod touch optimised version of my site. An early version of it is live now. Just point your iDevice at http://www.samoredesign.co.uk and you should be redirected (or you could just visit http://iphone.samoredesign.co.uk but it may not work properly, it’s designed for iOS). As I said it’s still much of a work in progress, I have some big plans for it in the works.
